BIOGRAPHY of FRANCIS KAAKA OLE KORIATA

FAMILY HISTORY

Koriata is a fourth generation unmixed Maasai Legend (Leader). He is the great-grandson of Oloibor Kiyiaa which means “White Ears”. OlOIBOR KIYIAA had seven (7) wives and many sons and daughters, of which many became famous Maasai Legends (leaders). OITIRORI OLE KARIA and sons, Wuantai, Kirrinkai, Oloibor Kiyiaa, Roronya, Olooltisati, and Tumpewa who led the Maasai Protectorate (Nation).

LINEAGE

The Lengendary (Leaders) who led the formation of the Maasai Nation, Kenya and Tanzania. Maasai the Warrior war-like Purko Clan supremacy that own the oldest Maasai saying for 130 years to date: “ETII OLE KARIA AULUO – BE ALERT! OLE KARIA IS OUTSIDE!” (Nagol-Kila), which means “hard skin” or cloth. He was a tall runner and fighter and a strategic and wise leader, leading him to be respected. Shortly after he established the clan territory dominated by this fighter, the British entered the country now called Kenya and divided the family into two in the East Africa Protectorate. Later, his son led the Maasai to embrace the British because he was a planner and leader who saw ahead and realized that spears would never conquer over guns!

OLOIBOR KIYIAA KORIATA (which means “White Ears Man”)

This was my grandfather who was appointed to the Legislative Council of the Southern Maasai Territory, together with OLE MINIS and several others between 1900 and 1965. Shortly after the Independence, he was assassinated for being supportive to the British for the Maasai’s sake. The infrastructure was far from Maasai people and was closed in 1923. The borders and territories were unsafe and documented in books. His son, S.S. KORIATA, was appointed the Senior Chief of the Southern Maasai Territory. S. SOITANAE OLE KORIATA, is my uncle and current Western Maasai Senior Chief. NADALA KESWE OLE KORIATA is my step-brother.

MY BIRTH

I, FRANCIS KAAKA OLE KORIATA, was born and raised as a Maasai boy and herdsman in a Nomadic way of life. My father, KASUKA OLE KORIATA, had six (6) wives and over 35 children. I went to a school that the government had built called Lemek Boarding Mara Word, Mara West Narok County from 1983 to 1990, which was my Primary Education. The Tribal clashes occurred in Kenya from 1992 to 1994 where many schools were burned. Children left school to become warriors. I joined the Morrans (warriors) of my age group to protect my community for four (4) years, which ended my formal education.

MY SALVATION. Shortly after 1997, during the El Niño rains in Kenya, the LORD appeared to me in the night. An angel came into my room, followed by thunder and lightning. I couldn’t hide my crying and screaming, and no one came to help me. At the end, I knelt down and repented, and the words that came out of my mouth calmed the whole thunder storm. I heard a “Voice” that said, “I want to use you”. After that came my Second Journey.

MY SECOND JOURNEY

The following day I couldn’t eat, drink or walk far. I was tired and worn out. My step-mother, who was the first person to see me in the morning, disowned me after hearing my testimony. Then was my father, and then my whole family. All the children and women were crying because I was forced out like a stranger…a person never known. After the news broke of what happened to me, the brothers I used to meet in school didn’t want to pray for me either.

PAIN, TORTURE, AND ASSASINATION ATTEMPT

As an influential leader, motivator and Royal Family member, this was a big blow to my father and the family, politically, emotionally and to the community in general, to the point that I would be better dead than alive. My brother cut my right arm with a knife, going three (3) inches deep, requiring seven (7) stitches. I almost bled to death. I was speared once and stoned once in my own birth town, and left to die. But, God saved me. I ran and ran into the mountains where I spent a long period of time, only eating what I could find. At one point, I was taken into custody for trying to protect a young girl from being married to a wealthy politician who had three (3) other wives. I was homeless for ten (10) years, yet God used me. I faced elephants and buffalo in my travels, yet God used me. I was miraculously healed from my deep arm cut and the stitches that were placed in my body over that first year of my painful journey. The first church in the village was where my ministry began. My first job became my ministry. Every Tuesday there was Market day where we delivered maize flour and cabbages to sell and after Market hours we had open air crusades. I came to love the brothers that were with us from different villages with similar problems like mine. I supported the brothers for two (2) years with 2 kg of maize flour and one (1) cabbage that would last them a week. We started the fellowship with the pastor that had visitors from America who later saw a need of having a temporary iron building. I became the assistant pastor here. One year later they introduced a Maasai Bible learning program that was 400 km (250 miles) away from my home town which I went to for two (2) weeks every three (3) months.

GOD GIVEN LANGUAGE AFTER FOUR (4) MONTHS TO PREPARE A SINGLE 15 MINUTE SERMON

My pastor, Bishop Moses Sayo, prepared me for four (4) months for a single 15 minute sermon which changed my prayer life. This day was different when we went to the morning devotions. I asked God to fill me with the Holy Spirit. It came in English form and up to date I can speak and read English miraculously.

I was approved to be an inspirational public speaker and ground breaker. I started working with different fellowships without borders, meeting under trees, open air crusades, prayer groups and fasting, Full Gospel, Assemblies of God, African Inland Church, Christian Missionaries Fellowship (CMF), Jesus Glory, and Baptist, making 26 fellowships started under my support in different no-go zones in Maasai land and beyond.

NEW HOME (Man in an Orphanage)

It was bigger than I thought I could handle, but God was with me. After all these successful missions, then the drought came and swept through the Maasai land which almost everything was shut down. Two other boys were with me who had run with me to the mountains. We were homeless and disowned without somewhere to be and there wasn’t any support. We didn’t have any food, water, or church building; just under trees and wandering nomadically. We moved with the cows and went toward Tanzania, running to find a place. Finally, Bishop Gachie from Nairobi found me and took me to an orphanage in KiserianKajiado, which eventually led to my new journey…to international missions, college and later marriage.

MISSIONS & SOCIETY

With six (6) people and their families, I started the first Assemblies of God church in the area, which now has over 10 branches and many pastors. I was approved to be an inspirational public speaker and ground breaker and started working with different churches without borders; Full Gospel Assemblies of God, African Inland Church, Jesus Glory and the Baptist, making 26 churches started under my support in different “no-go zones” in Maasai land and beyond. I now have seven (7) churches under my leadership. I hold a Diploma of Biblical Studies & Psychology. I Chaplin four (4) primary schools, two (2) colleges, an organization we call Maasai Pastoral Education Network (P.E.N.) and several Christian Unions and Corporations which links poor children to higher education. There are 126 children in this program.

ROYAL TO ROYALTIES – ONE FOR LIFETIME

The prayer that changed my life…I prayed with the family of former Minister of Defense, HON. JUSTUS OLE TIPIS, and my family was delivered from its cultural traditions. I started my first church in Maasai Mara – Enkerende Air Strip when the former General of East African Protectorate, GEN. NELSON OLE NJAPIT, was healed after I prayed for him. The minister’s wife introduced me to the former Major of Nairobi, PROFESSOR NATHAN KAHARA. In November of 2007 Prof. Kahara introduced me to Missionary (Mama) Peggy Magnuson from America who was in Kenya with a group of seven (7) speakers. Missionary Peggy also introduced me to Dr. Mike Hyodo, CEO of World Ministries International in Nairobi. In February of 2008 Missionary Peggy returned with Dr. Jonathan Hansen, founder and president of World Ministries International in America, whom she wanted to introduce to Prof. Kahara. Dr. Hansen became my “Spiritual Father” and Mentor. Both Peggy and Dr. Hyodo were missionaries to the Nations, which led me out of this part of my journey and on to the next.

MARRIAGE AND EDUCATION

When I first met Peggy Magnuson and Dr. Jonathan Hansen, I was a single man.

Soon after, I met my beautiful wife, IRENE SIANTO KORIATA, also Maasai, and we have been married since 2010. We have four (4) children. The eldest, whom I adopted from the orphanage, then two girls followed and my youngest is a son.
